The AfroCuban lamellophone Acoustical Bass Marimbula is based on the Sansa, the Mbira or both of Africa's musical instruments that have been around for hundred or perhaps thousands of years. The design of the Cubajo is based on the bridge of the Acoustical Bass Marimbula. The bridge of the Acoustical Marimbula has been redesigned and converted into an Electric Bass Cubajo.

The body of the Cubajo is manufactured from hard wood; mainly oak. The fabrication of the Cubajo is consistent with the fabrication of musical instruments that should maintain their structure and tuning for a long period of time and are visually pleasant to the eyes. 

The laminate metal keys of the Cubajo Bass musical instruments has been designed and manufactured based on their geometric and material properties to acquire the desired pitch and sound and to be ergonomically finished for the protection of the musician/player. The Cubajo tuning is based on the bass gravest note of the pentagram mostly covering from C1 to C4 or middle C in the musical scale of the Piano. The electric Bass Cubajo, like the Electric Guitar, needs an amplifier and speakers to show their respective powerful sound explendor.
